    I just got my DNV approval after 47 days, here is the timeline

    My DNV application for Las Palmas finally came through after a surprisingly fast process! Here's my timeline: - Applied for my visa from the UK, submitted everything online on December 1st - Got an email on December 15th asking for my apostilled university degree (forgot that!) - Mailed the degree, it was received by them on December 28th - Checked the portal religiously, status changed to "approved" on January 17th - Received the official DNV approval letter by email on January 18th

    I'm planning to apply in October but I'm worried about the freelancer vs employee distinction. Were you already registered as autonomo in your home country for a long time? The uge seems to like seeing at least a year of history so they know the income is stable. 47 days gives me some hope though.

    Congrats. 47 days is actually pretty fast for the UGE lately. I am on day 62 and still pending. It is stressing me out.

    @sangriamad53·3y ago

    Do they keep your passport during the process?

    @bytesvq·3y ago

    Is the 47 days including weekends or just business days?

    1
    @flamencogz·3y ago

    Did you apply as an employee or a contractor? I heard contractors have it harder with the contract proof.

    5
    @goticdev·3y ago

    I applied as a contractor. I had to show invoices from the last 12 months and a letter from my main client saying they allow me to work from Spain.

    I'm calling bull on the lawyer being a requirement. I did my own mercury submission with a 15 euro card reader from Amazon and it worked fine. The glitches are real but you just reload the page. Save that 800 euros for your rent in Canteras instead. Also, did your lawyer actually help with the social security wording or did you have to figure that out yourself? Thats the part that usually trips people up.

    I got mine in 15 days back in May. The backlog must be growing because of the summer rush.

    I'm looking for a translator right now actually. Does your guy do the sworn translation with the official stamp? My last guy charged me 90 euros for three pages and it felt like a scam. Las Palmas prices are getting crazy with all the nomads moving in this year.

    Congrats on the approval. 47 days is actually pretty decent for the UGE right now. I'm also in Las Palmas and the TIE appointment situation is a total nightmare. Don't bother waiting for the morning refresh only. I found mine by checking on a random Tuesday at 2pm. Just keep the tab open and refresh every time you drink water. San Bartolome de Tirajana sometimes has openings if you can get a car down there.

    Seconding San Bartolome. I went down there last month and it was much faster than the city offices. Just make sure you have the exact bank tax paid before you show up or they will send you away.

    For the TIE appointment, try refreshing the site on Fridays at 9am. That is when they usually dump the new slots for the Maspalomas office.

    Vecindario is a good shout for the TIE. It is way easier to park there than in the center of Las Palmas anyway. Just a heads up that they can be a bit more picky about the padron document being fresh. Make sure yours is less than three months old or they might make you go back.

    14
    @goticagx·3y ago

    They definitely checked the date on my padron in Vecindario. Also make sure your photo is the exact Spanish passport size. They have a cutter but they hate using it if the photo is too big.

    The wait times are so random. A guy in my coworking space got his in 18 days last month while I am sitting at day 55 with no news. I applied from Las Palmas too. Did you get any requests for more info (requerimientos) during those 47 days or was it just silence until the end?

    The social security certificate part is what scares me. I am a freelancer in the US and the IRS form 6166 takes forever to get. Did you use that or something else? I heard the UGE is getting stricter about the specific mention of the law. I'm at day 22 and the anxiety is real.

    28
    @drifteu82·3y ago

    If you're US based, the 6166 isn't enough on its own anymore. You need the specific coverage letter that mentions the treaty. It's a mess. I had a friend get rejected because their letter didn't explicitly say they could work remotely in Spain.

    The Alcaravaneras police station is a nightmare. The guards are grumpy. Just be polite and have every single paper printed twice.

    @neon_tnf22·3y ago

    Total calendar days. From the moment the lawyer hit send to the PDF appearing.

    @flamenco26·3y ago

    The DNV is amazing but the tax situation is still a bit grey. Talk to a gestor about the Beckham Law before you spend the money.

    @sangria_2471·3y ago

    Welcome to the island. Make sure you register for the Luche Canaria if you want to see some local culture. It is better than the beach.

    3
    @diegoeu·3y ago

    Wait, did you need to provide a Spanish health insurance policy if you are paying into social security?

    3
    @roamco·3y ago

    The Maspalomas office is much easier than the one in Alcaravaneras. Just take the Global bus down there. It takes an hour but you get the card faster.

    10
    @graciax3·3y ago

    No, if you are a freelancer and will pay the autonomo fee, you just need the commitment to join the SS. But some lawyers suggest getting private insurance anyway to avoid a denial.

    7
    @sangria_bcn·3y ago

    UGE is getting stricter with the "stable relationship" proof for partners. If you are not married, get your papers ready now.

    5
    @neonnomad·3y ago

    Maybe for you, but some of us have complex tax setups in the US and don't want to risk a 3 year residency on a DIY mistake.

    @diego__pm30·3y ago

    Did you have to translate the bank statements? My bank is British and everything is in English.

    2
    @wander_25·3y ago

    I am still waiting on my criminal record from South Africa. It has been 4 months. Spain is fast compared to home.

    3
    @pixelx·3y ago

    Quick question. Did you have to apostille your degree or just the criminal records?

    4
    @drift__data·3y ago

    40 euros for a sworn translation is a steal. Can you send me his contact details? My guy in Madrid wanted 100.

    6
    @nodepm28·3y ago

    Does the 73k income requirement apply to everyone or is it lower for singles?

    1
    @byte24·3y ago

    Just the criminal records for me. I used my work experience (3 years) instead of the degree to avoid the apostille search. It was much easier.

    9
    @raultnf14·3y ago

    Check your DNV certificate carefully. They messed up my passport number and I had to file an amendment which took another two weeks.

    11
    @paellamad65·3y ago

    It is based on the SMI. For 2023 it is around 2520 per month for the main applicant. Not 73k. Where did you get that number?

    7
    @alvaro__eu61·3y ago

    I just got my approval too. See you guys at the digital nomad coffee meetup on Wednesday at Talleres?

    5
    @phantom_mad9·3y ago

    The 800 euro lawyer fee is a scam. I did it myself with a 5 euro digital certificate. It is not that hard if you speak a bit of Spanish.

    0
    @neonjp90·3y ago

    No, UGE usually accepts English bank statements if the numbers are clear. I did not translate mine and it was fine.

    5
    @alvarodata·3y ago

    Technically no. You should stay until you get the resolution or you might have issues coming back in if your 90 days expired.

    9
    @javi_ibz9·3y ago

    For the TIE, do not forget to pay the 790 012 tax form before the appointment. They do not take cash at the station.

    8
    @alvaro25·3y ago

    Can I ask which lawyer you used? I am looking for one who knows the Las Palmas office quirks.

    2
    @byteibz35·3y ago

    I actually did travel to Italy and back while waiting. Nobody checked my passport at the gate. But it is a risk.

    2
    @nomadeu·3y ago

    Anyone know if I can travel outside Spain while the application is in process? My 90 days are almost up.

    4
    @inesde47·3y ago

    No, they just scan every page. You keep the physical book the whole time.

    3
    @alcalasvq·3y ago

    Beckham law is 100% worth it if you earn over 50k. My tax dropped from 30 percent to 24 flat.
