Modelo 030 changes you need before your renewal

Hey everyone, just a heads up about the Modelo 030 if you're coming up on your DNV renewal here in Seville. I just went through this myself and learned something crucial. A friend and I both had our 030s from our initial application, but apparently, you need to update it with your new NIE and possibly your new address if you've moved. My initial one had my temporary NIE and my old address in Triana, and Hacienda told me right there at my renewal appointment that it was technically incorrect. They wanted a new Modelo 030 with my permanent NIE. I only had about a week before my renewal cutoff, so it was a mad scramble. I ended up getting an appointment at the Agencia Tributaria office near the Plaza de la Encarnación. Thankfully, the person there was super helpful and we got it sorted in about 20 minutes, no charge for the update itself. Just make sure you bring your current NIE card and any proof of address if you’ve moved. So, don't wait until the last minute like I almost did! Check your Modelo 030 now. If it has your temporary NIE or an old address, try to get an appointment at Hacienda to update it *before* you submit your renewal paperwork. It's one less thing for them to flag, and it saves you a ton of stress. Good luck with your renewals!

This is a huge save. I'm literally in the middle of gathering papers for my renewal next month while living in Los Remedios. I checked mine just now and it still shows my old passport number since I didn't have the NIE card back then. Did you have to bring a printed copy of the padron to the Hacienda office too, or was just showing the NIE card enough for the address change?

I went to that same office by the mushrooms last week. They definitely asked for a fresh padron for the address change. You can usually download it from the Seville city hall website if you have your digital certificate. Don't risk going without it or they will just send you home.

I actually had a different experience in Seville. I submitted my renewal last September with the old 030 and it went through without a single question. Maybe I just got a lazy reviewer at UGE. My lawyer told me that as long as the tax ID number is the same, they usually don't care about the physical address on that specific form. It seems like it really depends on who looks at your file.

The rules definitely seem to be tightening up for 2025 though. My neighbor just got a requerimiento for this exact thing. It's better to spend twenty minutes at Hacienda now than to wait three months for a rejection letter. Spain loves its paperwork consistency.

Just a tip for anyone who can't get an appointment in the city center. Try the offices in the outskirts or even in smaller towns nearby if you have a car. I went to one about twenty minutes out and it was empty. No waiting and they were much nicer than the staff in the center who deal with tourists all day.

this is way more helpful than the official guides. those agencies in seville charge way too much for things you can do yourself if you just have the list of steps. appreciate you sharing the specific costs and the email trail dates. it helps with the anxiety of the wait times.

Good looking out. I moved from Triana to Nervion and totally forgot about updating the 030. I only updated the padron and thought that was enough for the whole government system. It's so annoying that they don't share data between departments. You'd think one update would fix everything but this is Spain after all.

thanks for this insight. i am finishing my first year in seville soon and i was not sure about the 030. did you have to visit the office in person or could you do the update online with the digital certificate? i have heard the seville office can be really picky about local addresses.

interesting about the dates. i noticed that if the tax office hasn't processed the 030 before you hit 'submit' on the renewal portal then you get a requirement for more info a month later. it is better to do this 030 update at least two weeks before you plan to renew.

exactly this. i waited three weeks just to be safe. the bureaucracy here moves at its own speed and you can't rush the tax guys.

i just went through this in january and the address change on the 030 was the main thing they checked. if your padron says one thing and your tax file says another then you are stalled. seville is definitely getting stricter about these small details lately.

did you use a digital certificate or cl@ve? i find the cl@ve system fails half the time when i try to upload the documents.

the model 030 is such a hidden requirement. most people think it is just for the tie but the tax office needs it to match your residence status exactly. i paid a gestor 50 euros just to handle this part because i was terrified of getting a rejection during the actual renewal. it sounds like you saved yourself some cash doing it solo.

50 euros is actually cheap for seville. i was quoted double that by an agency near plaza de armas just for the consultation. glad the op posted the actual numbers.

I'm about to start my renewal process and I'm using an agency. They haven't mentioned this at all. I wonder if they just handle it behind the scenes with a digital certificate. Has anyone here done the update online themselves without going to the office? I really want to avoid any more in person appointments if possible.

The Plaza de la Encarnación office is usually pretty efficient but getting an appointment there is a nightmare lately. I've been trying to get a cita for three days and nothing pops up. Did you check at a specific time of day? I'm worried about missing my renewal window because the online system is basically broken.

useful reminders for anyone in andalucia. the timing on the receipts is what usually trips people up. sometimes the system takes a few days to update after you submit the 030. did your renewal get approved quickly after you fixed the tax registry status?

Wait, I thought the NIE stayed the same even if it was temporary? Mine is a letter followed by numbers and it has never changed. Are you talking about the difference between the white sheet and the actual TIE card? It's confusing because everyone uses the terms interchangeably and it's making me paranoid about my own paperwork.

    @chuecaeu88·7mo ago

The number stays the same, but the Modelo 030 is often registered under your passport number if you did it before you got the actual TIE card. That's what the OP means. If the 030 still shows your passport as the primary ID, Hacienda sees it as incomplete. Check the top right corner of your form.
