New EES System, Proving you are in Spain

Hey everyone – I'm planning to apply for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa from inside the country later this summer. I came across this article from ReadyForDNV about the new EES system (no more passport stamps as of April 10th, 2026) and how to prove physical presence for the application. Here's the key part of the article: What Changed on April 10th, 2026 On April 10th, Spain rolled out the EU's new Entry-Exit System (EES) at its airports and land borders. The system replaces the old habit of stamping passports with a digital record of your entry and exit... Why This Matters for Your DNV Application Without the stamp, the UGE caseworker has no automatic confirmation that you actually entered Spain when you say you did... What's Working as Alternative Evidence (Real Cases, May 2026) Police-issued entry declarations (declaración de entrada) Boarding passes Airline booking confirmations and e-tickets Supporting evidence: hotel receipts, SIM activation, ATM withdrawal, empadronamiento... Full article here: https://readyfordnv.com/learn/entry-exit-system-prove-presence-spain-2026 Has anyone here actually applied since April 10th? What evidence did you submit, and did you get a requerimiento (request for more docs) or an approval? I'm trying to figure out if the police declaration is worth fighting for, or if a stack of boarding pass + receipts + SIM card is enough. Any real experiences would be super helpful. Thanks!

applied april 25th from sevilla. submitted: boarding pass pdf bank statement showing a 5€ cafetería charge at sevilla airport (same day) my empleo de nómada digital approval letter from my company no police declaration got a requerimiento on may 10th asking for "prueba de entrada adicional." i then sent: flight booking confirmation a photo of me inside the airport with a newspaper stand (date visible on a magazine cover lol) my whatsapp location share to my girlfriend that day approved may 15th. so yes, they are being picky but they also accept creative stuff. just don't give them a reason to say no. also +1 to the cover letter in spanish. my first submission was all in english and i think that pissed them off. second time i used deepL and they approved. OP, definitely write your cover note in spanish.

hey OP! i applied last tuesday from bcn and i had no idea about the stamp thing until i was literally at the extranjeria lol. i panicked but my lawyer told me to throw EVERYTHING in. i submitted: boarding pass pdf, my ryanair booking email, a photo of me at the gate with the flight info, and my first coffee receipt from the airport starbucks. also wrote a short cover letter in spanish explaining ees started 10/04. no requerimiento yet 🤞🤞🤞 my lawyer says they're being "flexible but suspicious" but so far so good. i think you'll be fine with a good stack!

oh great, so now we have to build a full detective file just to prove we walked off a plane. classic spain. OP, about that police declaration – good luck. i tried at barajas. the guy looked at me like i asked for his firstborn. said "no hay sello, es digital" and waved me away. didn't even know what a declaración de entrada was. this is what happens when the EU rolls out tech without telling the border guards or the visa officers. total clown show. i'm waiting till september to apply, maybe by then they'll have a checkbox or something. but if you're going soon, stack boarding pass + receipts + that article's advice.

OP – i landed on may 5th and i threw away my boarding pass like an idiot 😭 i have my flight confirmation email but the airline app won't show the old pass anymore. am i screwed?? i have airbnb receipts, a sim card purchase, and a revolut transaction at a supermarket on day 1. is that enough or should i leave and re-enter to get a stamp? i'm so stressed. please someone tell me what to do.

don't panic. You are NOT screwed. (not official advice, just what I'm seeing in my cases). In the last two weeks, I've had friends approved with no boarding pass – they used: Flight booking confirmation (email PDF) Card transaction at the airport or on arrival day Spanish SIM activation receipt A sworn statement (declaración jurada) explaining the missing boarding pass and referencing the EES start date @OP – the article's hierarchy is solid, but I'd add that stacking is everything. One document is weak. Three or four that all point to the same arrival date? The UGE is accepting that. Also, if you can get a police entry declaration even weeks later, try – but don't lose sleep over it.

I read somewhere that one can get a digital certifcate in cl@ve and get proof from immigration?

Great find OP. I applied April 20th and got approved May 12th. Here's what I submitted: Boarding pass PDF (downloaded before landing) Flight booking confirmation Google Maps Timeline export for arrival day (shows airport terminal → taxi → airbnb) Photo EXIF data printout (geotagged at the gate) SIM activation receipt from Orange (same day) No police declaration – the comisaría refused me twice. But the stack worked. My gestor said the UGE is basically looking for "multiple independent records pointing to the same date and location." You don't need the police form if you have 3-4 other things. but still, they ask for documents differently everytime, ugh!

I applied April 28th with: boarding pass, booking confirmation, hotel receipt, and a screenshot of my airline app showing the flight status "landed" on that date. Got a requerimiento on May 9th asking for "prueba adicional de entrada." I then added my Revolut card statement (showing airport cafe charge) and a photo of myself at the baggage claim with a timestamp. Approved May 16th. So yes, they're being picky. But the article's "stack" approach works. Just don't assume one document is enough – even the EES portal printout might not be known to all caseworkers yet.

so basically spain replaced a free stamp with a requirement to become a forensic accountant. cool cool cool. but fr – thanks OP for posting this and thanks everyone for the real experiences. i'm flying in june and now i have a checklist. gonna print this thread and carry it in my carry-on. mods: can we pin this? this is the most useful DNV thread i've seen all month.

Wow, thanks everyone for the detailed replies! This is way more info than I expected. Sounds like the consensus is: - Police declaration is nice but hard to get – don't rely on it - Stack at least 3-4 pieces of evidence (boarding pass + booking + receipt + SIM is the gold standard) - The EES "mis viajes" portal is promising but not everyone has Cl@ve - Cover letter in Spanish is a must - Even if you get a requerimiento, you can still win by adding more creative proof (photos, location data, etc.) I'm going to save everything as PDFs, and take timestamped photos like a crazy person. Better safe than sorry. Thanks again – this community is amazing. I'll report back once I apply!
