Sanitas vs Adeslas after 1 year, switched and saved 240 euro

Year one: Sanitas Mâs Salud Plus. Required for DNV approval. Paid €65/month. Used their clinics near Ensanche and Mercado Central in Valencia for general check-ups and minor issues. Service was fine. Not amazing. Just fine. Year two: Switched to Adeslas Plena Plus. Premium dropped to €45/month. That's €20 saved monthly → €240 per year. The switch: Used an agent in Valencia (David at Seguro DNV). Gave him my NIE, signed a few docs. He handled everything. Canceled Sanitas with a quick email. No auto-renew issues. Current: Haven't needed major care with Adeslas yet, but their Valencia network looks solid—maybe bigger than Sanitas. Saved €240 without losing real coverage. No regrets.

that is a solid saving for valencia. did you have to go through a full health questionnaire again when you switched? im always worried they will find some tiny pre-existing condition and use it to hike the price back up after the first year. sanitas has been okay for me so far but 240 euro is basically a few months of groceries.

it depends on if you have a grace period waiver. usually if you are switching from a similar policy they let you skip the wait times but they still ask about your history. i did the same move last november and it was worth the paperwork.

sanitas in valencia has better hospitals in my opinion. the one near the airport is top notch. adeslas uses a lot of smaller private clinics which can be hit or miss depending on the neighborhood. if you are just doing basic checkups it does not matter but for anything serious i would rather be with sanitas. plus their video consultation feature is way better than the adeslas equivalent.

i made the same switch in january. adeslas seems to have more coverage near torrent and the outskirts where i live. sanitas had a nicer app but their premium kept creeping up every time i turned around. its good to see more people actually tracking the receipts because these companies bank on us just being too lazy to switch.

congrats on the savings. i'm with sanitas right now in valencia and paying way more than 65 actually. did you have to do a grace period or did adeslas waive the carencia because you already had a year in spain? usually they make you wait months for things like surgery unless you prove you were covered before.

they usually waive the wait times if you show them the certificate of cancellation from your previous provider. just make sure there is no gap between the two policies or they will try to treat you like a new arrival again.

twenty euros a month is a lot of extra tapas. i am still on my first year of dnv so i am stuck for a few more months but i will definitely look into this come november. is there a specific reason you went with the plus version and not the cheaper one with copayments? i heard the visa requires no copayments but after the first year maybe that rule changes for renewals?

are those numbers for a single person or a couple? i am paying way more for sanitas right now in the city center and 240 euro sounds like a massive gap. i wonder if adeslas is still running that promotion for dnv holders or if you just got lucky with the timing of your renewal. i might need to check my inbox for my last receipt now.

did you have any pre-existing conditions you had to declare? i want to switch from mapfre to adeslas to save money but i am worried they will exclude my knee issues if i move now. sometimes the savings aren't worth the risk of losing coverage for stuff they already know about.

if you have a chronic condition you should probably stay put. even if they waive the waiting periods they will likely exclude the specific condition in the new contract once you fill out the health questionnaire. sticking with your current one is boring but safer.

i did the exact same thing but my experience with david was a bit slow. he took like three weeks to get my policy issued and i was terrified the sanitas one would expire before the adeslas one kicked in. adeslas is great in valencia though because the quironsalud network is huge here. sanitas felt a bit restrictive since they always tried to push me toward their own milenium clinics.

are you sure about the coverage being the same? adeslas plena plus is good but i found that sanitas had way more English speaking doctors listed in their app. in valencia it might not matter as much if you speak spanish but for new dnv arrivals it can be a dealbreaker. also check if your new policy includes dental because sanitas usually bundles that in.

i actually had the opposite experience. i started with adeslas and found their customer service over the phone to be a total nightmare. it took me two hours just to get an authorization for a simple blood test. i moved to sanitas and while it is more expensive the app actually works and i can book everything without talking to a human. to me that time saved is worth the extra 240 a year.

keep an eye on the price hike for year two with adeslas. they are famous for giving a really low introductory rate for the first 12 months and then bumping it up by 15 percent as soon as you stop paying attention. check your bank statements in january to make sure they didn't sneak in a big increase. i've been burned by that before.

that is exactly why i use an agent too. a good one should renegotiate or find a new promo for you every year so you never hit the high rates. it is a bit of a game but that is just how insurance works in spain.
