    TIE fingerprint appointments in Madrid are impossible right now

    Seriously, what's going on with the TIE fingerprinting appointments in Madrid? I've been refreshing the UGE site daily for weeks now, morning, noon, and night. It's always "No hay citas disponibles." I'm starting to think they just stopped offering them altogether. This is getting ridiculous.

    i'm in the same boat with the uge approval. my gestor told me that as long as you've tried to get the appointment you are legally fine to stay. the resolution itself is what gives you the right to be here. the tie is just the plastic card. don't let it ruin your week. just keep the tab open on your browser and refresh whenever you remember throughout the day. i found mine at midnight once.

    are you definitely checking for the 'toma de huellas' option. madrid is notoriously bad in the summer and early autumn because of the backlog from student visas too. if you can't find anything in the main city try expanding your search to any office within an hour. it sucks to travel for a 10 minute appointment but it beats the anxiety of the clock ticking down.

    the student visa wave is exactly what's killing us right now. it's like this every year from september to november. it should clear up a bit soon but for now it's absolute war for a slot.

    Welcome to the club. I spent three weeks refreshing for the Madrid fingerprints. Ended up getting one in Pozuelo for middle of next month. Just keep the tab open on your browser and try Tuesday mornings at 8am too.

    i gave up and paid a bot 20 euros on telegram. i know people hate it but i had a trip planned and needed that resguardo paper to come back into the country. it found me a slot within two hours at an office i hadn't even heard of. if you're anxious about the deadline just do it and save yourself the gray hairs. the frustration of the refresh button isn't worth the money.

    be careful with those bots because you're giving your passport number and full name to random people. it's a massive identity theft risk just for a fingerprint appointment. i'd rather wait or wake up at 7am every day than hand over my data like that.

    which bot did you use. i'm seeing like five different ones and i am worried about scams. did they ask for your nie upfront or just the fee.

    The 30 day limit is not really enforced that strictly if the system is down. As long as you have proof you tried to book it you will be fine when you finally show up. Just take screenshots of the no appointments screen.

    don't stress too much about the 30 day limit. everyone misses that window because the system is so broken. as long as you have the proof that you've been checking or a screenshot of the error, no one at the police station will care when you finally show up. i didn't get mine until day 45 and they didn't even mention it. the 30 days is more of a guideline than a hard law for the nomads right now.

    actually my lawyer told me that if you pass the 30 days you should at least have your favorablé downloaded and printed with the date visible. some offices in the outskirts can be sticklers about it if they're having a bad day. better safe than sorry.

    @sangriaus·1y ago

    Exactly. I went two months after my approval because there were zero slots. The officer at Aluche did not even mention it. Just make sure your padron is less than three months old when you go.

    I used a telegram bot and it cost me 20 euros but I had a slot within two hours. It is annoying to pay for a free service but my sanity was worth more than that.

    Which bot did you use? I see a few on telegram but they all look like scams to be honest. I do not want to give my NIE to a random person.

    friday at 9am is the old advice and i don't think it works anymore. try random times during the workday like tuesday at 11am or thursday at 2pm. i found my slot for towerjon at like 3 in the afternoon on a wednesday. the bots definitely make it harder for the rest of us but i refuse to pay those people on principle. it just rewards them for clogging the system.

    Wait I thought the digital nomad visa did not need the 30 day rule because it is a residency authorization and not an estancia. My lawyer told me I had 90 days. Who is right?

    the outskirts are definitely the way to go. try looking at alcala de henares if you haven't yet. it's a train ride away but they usually have more movement than the aluche office. also make sure you're selecting the right procedure. sometimes people click the wrong tie option and that's why nothing shows up. you need the one for initial documentation.

    The system updates at 11am on Thursdays for some offices. It is very inconsistent. Spain loves its bureaucracy and the TIE process is the final boss.

    I just did mine in Guadalajara because I could not find anything in Madrid city. It was a bit of a trek but they let me do it since my company is based in Madrid. Some regions are picky about that though.

    Has anyone tried the office in Alcobendas? I heard they are faster there.

    Do not go to Aluche if you can avoid it. The security guards are incredibly rude. Try to find something in Aranjuez if you do not mind the train ride. It is way more chill there.

    calle san nicasio is actually in leganes and they usually only show up if you select the right province dropdown and then specific office. it's a bit of a trek from central madrid but the staff there are way nicer than at aluche. check on monday mornings around 8am. that's when i saw a huge dump of appointments last month for the tie fingerprints.

    The law says 30 days but nobody cares. The UGE is so backed up that the police know everyone is struggling to get the cita previa.

    I tried paying online with my Revolut but the form would not accept the IBAN. Do I really have to go to a physical BBVA or Santander branch?

    4
    @ronin_ibz74·1y ago

    Make sure you have your Tasa 790 012 paid before you go. You need the physical stamp from the bank or the digital receipt if you paid online. You cannot pay at the police station.

    @olivegz52·1y ago

    Good luck. It took me three months total from approval to holding the card. The wait for the actual card after the prints is another 30 to 40 days anyway.

    10
    @miguelco·1y ago

    I am pretty sure you have to stay within your province for the TIE. If your padron is in Madrid you cannot go to Guadalajara for the fingerprints. Be careful with that advice.

    @vibe__pm·1y ago

    Yes and they usually only let non customers use the ATM for fees during very specific hours like 9am to 11am. It is total madness.

    11
    @nomad_es·1y ago

    Alcobendas is okay but you need a car to get to that specific station easily. The line moves fast though. Plus they actually speak a little bit of English if you get lucky.

    @raul_de55·1y ago

    If you see the message saying there are no slots just keep clicking the back button and re entering your info. Sometimes a slot opens up when someone else abandons their session. It took me 40 tries in one sitting.

    @chueca_2436·1y ago

    The bots are why we cannot get appointments. People buy them up and then the rest of us are left with nothing. Please stop paying for them.
